Hot Fuzz, Spaced and Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg has been chosen top star as Scotty in the new Star Trek movie, according to numerous web sources*.
Playing the part made famous by actor James Doohan, Star Trek's original Scotty, it will be interesting to see how Pegg's role will be cast.
Simon Pegg's previous career has focused on straightforward comedy films such as Shaun of the Dead, a British spoof Zombie movie which satirises earlier Zombie movies from the 1970s. Pegg also starred in the recent Hot Fuzz, the story of a hardened London policeman who is reassigned to a small country village.
Or rather Barry Humphries, the comedy creator of characters such as Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Paterson, has been made a CBE.
Australian Barry Humphries has been performing the role of Dame Edna Everage for over 50 years and has become an institution in his native country and continues to be popular in the UK and America.
