Alan Partridge to return in movie

Steve Coogan is set to revive his Norfolk-based comedy disk jockey Alan Partridge, in a new movie.

Alan Partridge CooganAlan partridge, the spoof radio DJ, has scarcely been heard from for a little while - apart from a short sketch at Comic Relief. But sources at the BBC report that a brand new film is in the pipeline.

Although, details are sketchy at the moment - previously Coogan has said that he would only revive the Alan Partridge character for one-off TV comedy specials.

The Alan Partridge character started its comedy career as a hoax sports reporter on BBC Radio. He then moved into television comedy with his show 'The Day Today'.

Steve Coogan then moved Alan Partridge over to his spoof comedy talk show 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' and, later on, 'I'm Alan Partridge'. Steve Coogan has also appeared as various other comedy characters, including Paul Calf - a beer drinking hooligan.

Coogan has appeared previously in three other movies , including 24 Hour Party People, Around the World in Eighty Days and The Parole Officer. This would be the first film based entirely on one of his comedy characters.

Steve Coogan tickets announced for forthcoming tour.
