UK television company ITV have signed up The Office star Ricky Gervais and stand-up comedian Al Murray for new television shows and has promised some- forthcoming TV comedy shows to be broadcast over the next year.

The Ricky Gervais show will see him teaming up with two members of Wallace and Gromit’s Aardman Animations to develop a six-episode series, based on Gervais's best-selling books Flanimals.

ITV has also signed stand-up comedian Al Murray to host his own eight part comedy chat show. Al Murray, The Pub LandLord’s Happy Hour will include special guests as well as comedy from Murray himself, introducing additional characters to his trademark Pub Landlord figure. ITV is also planning some more one-off comedy specials.

Ricky Gervais's career includes being a DJ for a London radio show and manager of a pop group. His comedy resume includes The 11 O'Clock Show and Meet Ricky Gervais. Gervais later went on to write and star in the hit TV comedy program The Office.

Al Murray is the man behind The Pub Landlord, which saw him win the Perrier comedy awards and launched a successful stand up and TV comedy career.
